Self-Care Products I’m Loving Right Now (And Have Been for a While!)

One of my favorite hobbies is discovering new and exciting self-care products. While I definitely have my tried-and-true favorites, I’m always on the lookout for what’s new in beauty, skincare, makeup, body care, and everything in between. Here are a few gems I’ve found over the past few years that I’m STILL loving today.

Important reminder: Whenever you try new products, test them first and always go with what feels right for your skin and body. And if you’re unsure about ingredients, reactions, and allergies, always reach out to a licensed medical professional or skin care expert.

CeraVe Healing Ointment

Unbox Rating: 5/5

I’ve been using CeraVe Healing Ointment since 2020, and it’s become a staple in my skincare routine. It has really helped keep my skin, which I like to call “young, middle-aged,” hydrated, supple, and wrinkle-free.

How I use it: At night, I like to “slug” with it. After cleansing and applying serum, I finish with a layer of the ointment to lock everything in. On makeup-free days, I’ll also use it in the morning by applying it after my moisturizer and before sunscreen for an extra hydration boost.

Eminence Hydrating Mist

Unbox Rating: 4/5

Eminence Hydrating Mist was recommended by my esthetician, and it’s become my go-to for those moments when my skin needs a quick pick-me-up. The refreshing scent and burst of moisture make it feel like a mini spa treatment in a bottle.

For my drier skin, I’ve noticed it can feel a bit tight after the mist dries down, but overall, the immediate hydration, invigorating scent, and calming ingredients to my sensitive skin keep me coming back to it.

How I use it: I spray it on right after cleansing, before applying serum and moisturizer. It preps my skin nicely and gives it a refreshed feel before layering on other products.

Beauty Secrets Nail Glue

Unbox Rating: 4.5/5

I’ve been a nail girly since my pre-teen days, and I’ve pretty much tried it all. In 2017, I started experimenting with press-ons, but I still mostly stuck to salon visits to keep my nails looking fresh. By 2020, I learned how to do my own gel-x nails, but I still loved the convenience and flexibility of press-ons so I gave them another shot.

After lots of trial and error (and a few flying nails), I can confidently say I’ve become a press-on pro. The biggest challenge? Making them last through real life for at least two weeks. That’s where Beauty Secrets Nail Glue comes in. It’s my go-to for durability. I’m taking off half a point because I occasionally have to reattach a rogue nail or two before I hit the 2–3 week mark but overall, it holds up great.

How I use it: I use this as my main nail glue. If I want extra hold, I’ll start with a nail sticker, then add a small drop of glue on top before pressing on the nail.

Dove Whole Body Deodorant

Unbox Rating: 5/5

I know it’s considered taboo, but some topics just need to be talked about - even if it’s just in private. Hygiene is one of them. Over the years as I’ve become more intentional about caring for my body, hygiene has stayed at the top of my list. It can be an uncomfortable subject for many women, but it is also an important one. No woman should feel ashamed while learning how to care for herself and her body. And trust me, as you get older, there is always something new to learn.

After a lot of trial and error, I’ve finally found a hygiene routine that helps me feel fresh, confident, and sets the perfect base for my favorite fragrances. One key part of that routine is Dove Whole Body Deodorant. I don’t use it as my main deodorant, but it definitely comes in handy for those folds, creases, and hidden spots that need a little extra support, especially during the summer.

How I use it: After I shower and dry off, I spray the body deodorant lightly between and under my chest, underneath my belly (but not in the deeper private areas), and sometimes around my neck.

The Beauty of Starting Over: No Matter Your Age

When I turned 40, I experienced something like a rebirth. The way I thought I  should  have felt at 20 - that excitement, confidence, and sense of endless possibility - I finally felt it at 40. It was as if the world had opened wide, and I could truly be and do whatever I wanted. I remember the days leading up to my 40th birthday were heavy - solemn, reflective, even tinged with melancholy and regret. But when I woke up on that morning, I felt something completely different: Gratitude  for another year of life, Joy  knowing I would celebrate intimately with close friends, and Motivation  from the awareness that no day is promised to any of us. That realization pushed me to look at myself with fresh eyes—to believe in myself in the way I should have long before 40. The Result? This Blog and My Permission to Build the Life I Desire Now in my early 40s, I’m leaning into my dream of starting a beauty and lifestyle brand. I’m stepping fully into the woman I once hid ...

I'm A Slug: The Skincare Trend that Changed My Routine

Photo Credit: https://unsplash.com/ If you haven't heard the term "slugging", you've come to the right place. About five years ago I was doing my morning TikTok scroll and a young lady came on my screen doing a 'Get Ready With Me' morning vlog and she had the most beautiful skin I had seen. As I watched the video, she focused a lot on her skincare and over time as I watched more of her videos she talked about her journey with acne, scars, and unruly skin. As someone who has always been into skincare (I used to wake up at 9am and watch Jane Treacy on QVC sell Yves Rocher skincare on Saturday mornings when I was  about 10 years old and I also dreamed of the day I could by Fashion Fair cosmetics from Macy's before I became a teenager!), I am always looking for the next greatest cleanser, moisturizer, toner, serum, exfoliant - you name it. As I've gotten older and my skin has become more mature, I've learned through trial, error, and maxed out store ca...

This Chapter of Womanhood: Embracing the Now

Not too long ago, I shared some thoughts about starting over . I’ve come to truly appreciate how often we as women have the power to stop, shift, and begin again throughout our life. It may not always feel like we have those choices, especially when life is heavy or resources are tight; but even then I’ve learned that the option to “start again” or to pivot is always on the table. It might take some planning, a new strategy, or help from others, but it’s still there.  One thing I’ve always stood on both in life and on social media is this: if you want to start over or be someone different, you can and should do it - unapologetically. But  what if you want to start over so you can be who you used to be? What if you feel stuck or unhappy with who you are now and you want to get back to that girl or woman you used to know? What if you have been unable to start over or begin something new because you just can’t quite be who you used to be? She always did it; but you now, you’re h...
