She Is Becoming: Faith, Purpose, and the Freedom to Keep Going

I like shiny things and have always liked shiny things. I’m a woman who loves jewelry that sparkles, all types of hair styles, long nails, short nails, glossy lips, and clothes that make me feel good at any size. Some days my personality shines; other days the jewelry does more. Either way, it’s me, and I love it.

I’ve also found my people—women who mirror this energy and remind me to embrace who I am while tuning out outside criticism and insecurity. This season of my life truly has given me the renewal of 'self' that I needed and more things that I didn't even know I need.  I’m still figuring it all out (and pivoting along way) but at 43 here's what God has already created paths for and seeds I am (or will be) harvesting in the future:

  • A company that celebrates women and womanhood in many forms

  • A beauty and lifestyle platform that connects women to things that bring them joy and wellness

  • A writing journey that brings fantasy and day dreams onto the page

  • Rebuilding my family's business with a fresh look and vision

And I have more I will do. Lots more............

If you’re reading this, let it be your sign to never stop going, dreaming, doing and finding yourself. If you're like me and find yourself in a "finding me" season every 5 years it can be exhausting for you and those around you. You may also encounter situations and circumstances that can impact your timeline of accomplishing your goals; and that's okay. But remember your path was never meant for anyone else but you and I believe every woman should seek what gives her joy and peace in this life until the day she passes on into another realm.

Every day I believe: You can dream a new dream - without keeping old ones close; Revive an old dream without feeling the guilt of your present situation; and Keep building onto the life you already have with the peace of knowing what you have is just enough for you. Wherever you fit on that spectrum, I think every woman should lean into where she is and where she wants to be, without hesitation. I also believe you should do it scared - do it unsure - do it wise - do it alone or with community - do it angry, tired, hopeful, or full of momentum.

Wherever you are, just do it. Whatever that ‘it’ is for you.

You only get one life in this current form you're in and no matter what, your life is your own. Choose what brings you value and joy, and don’t apologize for shining or liking shiny things either.

And whenever you find yourself in a rut or you need some motivation to just make it to the next minute, day, week or year, just tell yourself about yourself: She Is Becoming. Because you are becoming who you are each day and that journey does not end. Embrace it, have faith in yourself and what you know, and never stop seeking and finding yourself.

The Beauty of Starting Over: No Matter Your Age

When I turned 40, I experienced something like a rebirth. The way I thought I  should  have felt at 20 - that excitement, confidence, and sense of endless possibility - I finally felt it at 40. It was as if the world had opened wide, and I could truly be and do whatever I wanted. I remember the days leading up to my 40th birthday were heavy - solemn, reflective, even tinged with melancholy and regret. But when I woke up on that morning, I felt something completely different: Gratitude  for another year of life, Joy  knowing I would celebrate intimately with close friends, and Motivation  from the awareness that no day is promised to any of us. That realization pushed me to look at myself with fresh eyes—to believe in myself in the way I should have long before 40. The Result? This Blog and My Permission to Build the Life I Desire Now in my early 40s, I’m leaning into my dream of starting a beauty and lifestyle brand. I’m stepping fully into the woman I once hid ...

I'm A Slug: The Skincare Trend that Changed My Routine

Photo Credit: https://unsplash.com/ If you haven't heard the term "slugging", you've come to the right place. About five years ago I was doing my morning TikTok scroll and a young lady came on my screen doing a 'Get Ready With Me' morning vlog and she had the most beautiful skin I had seen. As I watched the video, she focused a lot on her skincare and over time as I watched more of her videos she talked about her journey with acne, scars, and unruly skin. As someone who has always been into skincare (I used to wake up at 9am and watch Jane Treacy on QVC sell Yves Rocher skincare on Saturday mornings when I was  about 10 years old and I also dreamed of the day I could by Fashion Fair cosmetics from Macy's before I became a teenager!), I am always looking for the next greatest cleanser, moisturizer, toner, serum, exfoliant - you name it. As I've gotten older and my skin has become more mature, I've learned through trial, error, and maxed out store ca...

This Chapter of Womanhood: Embracing the Now

Not too long ago, I shared some thoughts about starting over . I’ve come to truly appreciate how often we as women have the power to stop, shift, and begin again throughout our life. It may not always feel like we have those choices, especially when life is heavy or resources are tight; but even then I’ve learned that the option to “start again” or to pivot is always on the table. It might take some planning, a new strategy, or help from others, but it’s still there.  One thing I’ve always stood on both in life and on social media is this: if you want to start over or be someone different, you can and should do it - unapologetically. But  what if you want to start over so you can be who you used to be? What if you feel stuck or unhappy with who you are now and you want to get back to that girl or woman you used to know? What if you have been unable to start over or begin something new because you just can’t quite be who you used to be? She always did it; but you now, you’re h...
